Earlier today a question occurred to me that I’ve asked a few people, but not as many people as I probably should.  The question is: are you doing what you Love doing in life, what you truly enjoy doing, whether for a living, or as a hobby?

It seems like simple question, doesn’t it?  And it is simple, in that the answer can only be yes or no.  You either are doing what you Love doing in life, or you are not.  On the other hand, the answer to the question could be complicated in that many people have dreams and want to do more with life, but don’t pursue those dreams for myriad reasons.

Irrespective of that however, I ask the question because life waits for no one.  I’m thankful that I began pushing towards my dreams really early in life, and I kept jumping into the deep end of the ocean of the unknown willing to fail countless times in pursuit of my dreams.  Thankfully, although I have failed in many things in life, the first big dream that I pursued and had success with was playing online poker for a living, which I loved doing and taught me a lot about life, people, dreams, focus, mindfulness, mindset, and much more.  But when it was time to move on from that, the next dream I had was launching multiple businesses.  Pursing those dreams was not easy, particularly poker, but had I not sought what I Love doing then I wouldn’t be here right now doing what I Love doing, and that is writing.

This concept is important because doing what you Love invigorates your soul.  You’re always energized, you’re always in a good mood, you’re always getting things done, it it’s all seamless, you just do it.  I find that when I am not doing what I Love doing, that’s when I begin to get stuck, that’s when my inspiration just nosedives considerably and I end up feeling like I’m wading through a mire.

These are some of the thoughts that have led me to be more mindful of my time on social media, and shifting that time to doing things I Love doing, except doing them far more often.  And the main things I Love doing are reading, writing poetry and blogs, and doing research.  I can spend day after day endlessly doing all of that, and I’m right at home, doing what I Love.

While I have not stopped writing at all, what I had stopped doing was reading and research, which I really thoroughly enjoy for many reasons, not the least of which is because it gives me a greater understanding how the world really operates.

In any case, the point is to ask you the reader whether or not you are doing what you are doing.  Whether it revolves writing, or any other dreams, it doesn’t matter.  It’s a very serious question, and I ask because most of the time we go through life day after day, month after month, year after year, and we end up living the same day, the same week, the same month, the same year, over and over again, as if we don’t have a choice.  But all individuals DO have a choice.  Just because it’s not easy doesn’t mean it’s not possible.

You can choose to take proactive steps towards your dreams, or not.  For instance, some of my goals for this year are publishing a few more books, more than last year, while also pushing myself to review books again like I was doing in the past, while continuing to write poetry as well, while not neglecting the blog.

Some of those goals are easier than others, but the main commonality all of these goals have, and all dreams have is that if you look at them from the right perspective, all they require are baby steps. At times, it can be a lot of baby steps, but ultimately, no dream is ever accomplished without consistent steps, and last year taught me that if I can keep myself mindful about how I employ my time, I will not only achieve my goals but I will do what I Love doing. But I have to be mindful about it. There is no if and or buts of about that.

Thankfully, the option to do what each of us Loves doing is always there.  Pursuit of dreams and goals might not be easy, but it’s always worth it.

Now, before you leave, I ask you all one last time: are you doing what you Love doing?  Why or why not?  What’s stopping you?

Only you can answer those questions, but I hope that whatever each of you is doing in life, one way or another you’re taking proactive steps towards your dreams.

You all take care and have an outstanding evening.

Book Release! Amor Vincit Omnia – Love Conquers All Is Out Now! | #Poetry #Prose #Love #Books #LoveConquersAll #Amor VincitOmnia

As a preface, the above book that has just been released, Amor Vincit Omnia – Love Conquers All, has been released under my other pen name, Zy Marquiez. I know this might spur some confusion, but I lead off with that fact so individuals realize that I am one and the same, Noctis Blackburn and Zy Marquiez. As I continue to release books, the deliberate dichotomy will be incredibly significant, but that will be touched upon in the future.

With that out of the way, Amor Vincit Omnia means a lot to me for myriad reasons, much more than I could probably ever convey in words.  The fact that this book begins with an 11 page introduction shows how serious this book is to me, and how much I wanted to set a proper foundation for the argument that Love does in fact conquer all.

Moreover, the fact that this book is triple the size than my previous book Halcyon Days (word–count wise), also shows the significant extent I was willing to go to in order to extend the argument of Lover Conquering All as precise as possible under the intricate circumstances of such a broad topic.  This isn’t filler content at all however.  Not even close.  The book features dozens of notations, not unlike most of my previous books, examining various different circumstances of how Love does in fact hold the power to change society through all strata, and not simply from a romantic point of view.

Yes, many of the poems in the book are written from a couple’s point of view, or a romantic point of view, but the poems are often metaphors operating on multiples tiers, not unlike life operates physically and metaphysically simultaneously, and those metaphors are extrapolated upon in the notations with key poems in mind, and crucial concepts in mind like kindness, goodness, appreciation, and so on.

Now, at its core, the book features two different arguments of how Love Conquers All.  The first argument is the one that is covered through most of the book given its complexity, which is explained in the introduction.  The second argument is simple, very simple.  I happen to believe both are true.  That said, what I myself believe is irrelevant, as I make it a point to explain in the book, I share these thoughts for consideration purposes only, examining of how Love could hypothetically not only “conquer all”, but could also create resounding change in the world.

Of course, the book is written with a very broad point of view in mind, sampling many subjective and objective points as well.  The point is life, Love, and the paths that each individual take, happen in so many complex ways, to try and explain away such a concept and emotion as Love in a “one–size–fits–all” type of way would be very ignorant, or perhaps, shortsighted.  Life is, and always will be much more complicated than that, particularly when emotions are involved.  Even so, I do think the topic of Love isn’t explored with as much depth and care as it should be, which is one of the vanguard reasons why I chose to write this book.

Ultimately, what you believe about Love is your business, and you have every right to believe what you do because the life that you live is yours and yours alone, and the path that you are on is yours alone as well.  I simply hope that this book offers something of substance that will help you consider not only Life and Love in a kaleidoscope of circumstances and how those ultimately help you grow as a person, but also how Love can help create that type of resonance that in fact does ultimately help change the world.

The Fusion Of Writing & Life To Bring Depth To An Individual | #Life #Writing #WritingCommunity

“Life is too important to be taken seriously”

“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better.”

Life is experienced in a full kaleidoscope of circumstances that show the endless ways that it can be experienced.  How we choose to experience those circumstances will ultimately dictate what we get out of them, and how much meaning and depth will be had.

One of the vanguard reasons I love writing is because it allows for the exploration of life through the written medium, which showcases countless writing styles, but also because it allows you to examine meaningful circumstances at length, but more importantly, to record them as a time capsule of sorts for yourself, or for others.  Additionally, the wisdom garnered from many of the most astute individuals in the past still lives on, all due to their choice to pen their thoughts in timeless fashion.

This merger of an individual’s experience and creative process, brought about through writing, still resonates today.  Such instances not only allows individuals to learn from the past in myriad ways, but ultimately also aids individuals to live a better life, a wiser life, a more fulfilling life, all because those individuals took pen to paper and seared their voices into the pages of history after imprinting the insights they learned through the trials and tribulations they faced.

That is incredible power, not only because words have the influence to change people’s lives as well as history in significant ways through their inherent resonance, but words add depth to life that at times can be looked upon time and again for those with appreciation of it, as is the baseline for these thoughts.

Don’t ever underestimate the power of writing, whether it is blogs, paper notes, letters, creative writing, poetry, fiction, short stories, and so on, to add depth to your life and those of others.  For just like a mindful and deep breath brings a moment of clarity, no matter how fleeting it may be, the act of writing can also bring clarity that can allow not only for the recording of meaningful circumstances that took place in an individual’s life, but this also allows for more incisive examination of meaning within the very fibers of life, the untold depths that often go unexplored not only in the moment, but later on.

Such circumstances while possibly seemingly insignificant at the time, might just echo through the end of time.
